let me introduce myself.
updated: April 2020
Hello,
My name is Isabel Panno Shepard, but I'm also iz, biz, izzy, bugaboo, bugs, isa, iso, and more. My pronouns are she/her/hers. I was born on April 30th, 1998 in Pound Ridge, New York, a small town that's neither the city nor upstate. I'm three years younger than my sister and three older than my brother. I'm a soon-to-be graduate of Duke University and not quite sure where I'm going. I built this website in HTML5, CSS, and Javascript as an introduction to me and my work. Two things that are only sometimes the same.
I don't believe in horoscopes, but I do believe in aliens. I've gone to the hospital for a nail in my foot and a bug in my ear. I've never had shrimp, but if you ask me, I'm positive I don't like it. I only like movie theaters in the hypothetical, but I love tootsie pops in all cases. I put ice in my milk and cereal on my ice cream. I'm unabashedly a cat person, and I'll tell you why you should be too.
My favorite space on campus is the Rubenstein archives, where history is fragile, delicate, and I touch it with my hands. I like to play in the intersection of the mundane and exceptional, and cultural anthropology allows me to. Riot grrrl zines, Cuban posters, college bedrooms, Britney Spears, and even flight attendants are only some of the topics upon which I've found my mind to dwell.
Below is one dimension of Isabel Panno Shepard: a version of me written in numbers and quick bullets. Head over to "writing." or "media." after, and perhaps you'll find some of my other parts.
